Within the unique nature of Gokova, where green and blue merges together, there is the place called Akyaka, a small town in Gokova Bay. The spot is located in south-west corner of Turkey. Closest place to the spot is Akyaka, a small, unique town with beautiful nature and many activities. As we sait it is the most popular destination about kiteboarding in Turkey, Lets see what makes this spot so special for kiteboarding. If we look into details of most important elements;
The Wind: Akyaka is famous with its thermic winds which is blowing from May till November. The wind direction is on-shore and it is perfect for beginners and other people who wants to level up their riding skills. The wind bloows 15-18 knots in average during the season. If the conditions are okay, you can rely on the wind for everyday in season. It is good to ask locals about weather conditions if you are planning to make a kite trip to the spot.
The Water: Gokova Bay provide quite long parkour about 3 km long beach for riding. In addition to this, the training are is shallow and very good to learn and makes learning easy. the seabed is 95% pure sand, you can enjoy stepping on the soft sand with bare foot and you won’t need any shoes!
The Beach: The kite beach, where schools and other facilities located is at 1.5km bird-fly distance from the town. You can get there within 15 minutes by car on the road or by walk from the beach. There is a restaurant and bar for food and drink at the kitespot, which is running by a private company. There is also chance to see some parties and events at the spot from time to time.
The Accommodation, Food and Dink: For the accommodation, you can find many many places like hotels and bed&breakfast options in Akyaka or you can also find places in near villages. Fish restaurants beside the Azmak River is the best and you shouldn’t miss it out. In addition to this you can find wide variety of food from homemade burgers to pizzas, mezes and delicious choices of Turkish cusine.
Its wind, water, beautiful nature, Akyaka is one of the best places to learn kiteboarding, or improove, having fun, and having a good holiday. As the weather gets warm, it is possible to do kiteboarding for 5 months of the year. The peak season is June, July and Agust.

From Akçapınar village to the kitebeach, another azmak river with its refreshing cold water, hidden channels along the river, and calming nateure is the best solution for tired kiteboarders or other people who look for different things to do at the spot. You can make a stand up padde (SUP) tour in the river or SUP-Yoga and other activities during the day.
